First Day of School

This past Monday was the girls' first day of school.  Kaylie is in 4th grade this year and Reese is in 2nd.  So hard to believe!  Both of them seem to have really great teachers this year for which I am thankful.  We also have the added blessing of having one of our good friends as principle this year. The first day of school Megan (the principle) went to both of their classes just to check on them, give them hugs and see how they were doing. She told me several times that she will take good care of my babies.  I have no doubt that she will do just that.  I am really looking forward to this year!  Oh and I have to mention that Kaylie is now on the other side of the school which is the "big kid" side. This is where the 4th, 5th and 6th graders are.  Something new for her this year is what they call rotations.  Every day she goes to 3 different classrooms for different subjects.  One teacher teaches handwriting/ grammar. Another one teaches Math/Science. The last teacher teaches Reading/ Social Studies. This is all to prepare her for middle school which is, hard to believe, only 3 years away! Time slow down!!

Girls Night

When I asked Reese what was the one thing she wanted to do before school started she said "A girls night!".  How could I ever say no to that! So last Monday Kaylie, Reese and I headed out for our Mommy/Daughter date.  Reese was very specific about what she wanted to do.  Shopping, bowling, dinner and ice cream were her requests.  Well, we got 2 out of 3 in.  We went shopping, had dinner at Ruby Tuesday down on the Harbor and then sat outside and had some yummy ice cream.  Oh how I love my big girls! I have to admit that I love it that they are getting older.  I love our grown up conversations and grown up activities.  I don't have to keep them occupied by toys or coloring at dinner.  It honestly has been so much fun and I really enjoy our girl time together.  I'm looking forward to our next date!

The West End and a Trolley Ride

After a summer of hospitals, doctor's visits and being home bound for some time I felt like I had deprived my kids of summer fun.  So these last few weeks we have been trying to cram as many activities in we can.  Last week was our final fun day and we spent it exploring downtown Dallas.  We took the train down to the historic West End where we walked around and had lunch.  After lunch we took the old Trolley from downtown to uptown and back again. I think all the kids had fun on that one.  We got to see parts of Dallas that we had never seen before.  Our next stop was supposed to be the Arts District to check out the sculptures and play in the water feature but unfortunately our day was cut short when my shoe broke.  When that happened we decided to head back on the train and go home.  We will make it down to the Arts District again at some point I am sure.

Let's Go Rangers!

We had girls day at the Ballpark last Sunday as Jessica and I took our Ranger loving girls to a game.  It was Ian Kinsler bobble-head day and all of the kids got one.  He happens to be Kaylie's favorite player so she was ecstatic!  It was 108 degrees outside and we learned quickly that getting ice cream in that heat is a very bad idea!  The girls' ice cream pretty much melted by the time we got back to our seats and it ended up dripping all over them but oh well.  It was still good.  We had a great time watching the Rangers beat the Tigers!  I love spending time with my girls!

Zoo Time

Kaylie asked if we could do something fun on Friday so I suggested the Zoo.  It was pretty hot but thankfully they had water sprayers everywhere to cool people off.  We didn't stay long but the kids enjoyed themselves.  I think the best part was the water stream where the kids (mostly Mason) got nice and wet!
