Softball Dad!

Word's cannot express how happy this dad was last night during Kaylie's last softball game of the summer season. The girl was 3 for 4, with two bunts and one infield single. It's worth noting that the single she hit was on a full count and the one time she didn't get on base she walked but was called out because she stepped off first base too early. This is a new rule for U12 softball that she nor the team knew. Even the coach had to go ask what happened. If you step off first after a walk you have to run to 2nd (steal).

I was and still am so excited for her and how she played. I am only sad now that the season is over and that there will be no more games. I wish the hot streak could continue.
Happy Dad!

Derby Days!

Last week I had all these plans while the kids and I were in Kansas.  We planned some painting, some swimming, spending time with family and other fun things.  None of my plans included spending 3 days in the hospital! We made it up there on Sunday and on Monday I was in some horrible pain and had to stay in the hospital until Thursday.  Friday and Saturday were spent resting up for the 6 hour drive back to TX on Sunday.  Like I said, not the plans I had in mind for a vacation.  We did, however, get to have a little bit of fun going to our little towns annual festival called Derby Days.  Friday was the parade and then my mom, kids and I went to the carnival on Saturday night.  It was so strange being back on high school grounds since I hadn't been there since graduation but we had a nice, short time riding a ride, eating ,playing skee ball and listening to the band play.

Swimming with the KS Everharts

Matt made it home safe and sound from Afghanistan a few weeks ago and we are so thankful for it!  Once he got a little settled back into life at home they made their way down here to Tx to visit family and have a short vacation.  Last Saturday we headed over to Emily's parents house to spend some time catching up, eating and having a great time! All these kids sure do love to swim! Welcome home Matt!

So, so, SO far behind!

Where in the world do I catch up?  I guess I will start with Memorial Day.  After living here for almost 8 years now, we realized that we have never been on the lake that is a whole 2 blocks from our house.  Thankfully on Memoral Day we had some great friends invite us out for some eating and relaxing on an evening boat ride.  Even though it was a little on the warm side, and all the kids were tired from a long day, we all had a great time.  All 3 kids, including Mason, got to spend some time behind the wheel (yes there was adult supervision) and now they cannot wait to get back out there.

The last day of school

First day of school. August 2011
Last day of school. May 2012
And this is why Ryan is such a great dad. He wrote a note like this to both girls and put it in their lunchboxes on the last day. Awww!
